That particular white paper was written against Exchange 2003 RTM and
Outlook 2003 RTM.

Just goes to show how things change..

THeres an MS white paper which defines a large mailbox as being >1GB. That
made me laugh as thats normal amount our clients and we define large as >6GB

I'd have to say it completely depends on your environment and how your
company uses email. Some attempt to use email as a file transfer system or
a filing system - others simply can't be bothered managing their mailboxes.

We currently start at a default of 100meg and increase based on need (of
course at times need is defined as "listen, I'm a VP and you are a peon -
just do it!"). We can justify a low size as we have an easy to use secure
file transfer system in house.

I'm sorry, it was simply a very generic, simple question. Meaning, is 10MB
recommended as best practice, or maybe 500MB, or maybe 10GB. Is there a
size where it becomes difficult to do a recovery? Not really worried about
the infrastructure, the question is simply an attempt to get to best
practices.

Anybody that does based on no more information than that probably shouldn't
be trusted in the first place.

Anyone have a recommended size for mailboxes in Exchange 2007?
