I learned my lesson long ago that if Exchange is expecting a pagefile that is physical memory + 1GB, you'd better give it one. Some of my 2007 servers only had a 4GB pagefile and 64GB RAM and we started getting paging problems until I gave them an extra 20GB, which was enough in hindsight. All my 2010 servers have a 64GB pagefile now.
But, there error below looks more to me that there is a hardware problem somewhere. Does your pagefile have a dedicated set of spindles, or dedicated mirror disk pair? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Al Rose Sent: 29 July 2011 09:43 To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: Loadgen exhausting disks Hi, Loadgen 64 bits for Exch2010 is being run on a w2k8 ex2k10 server. The server has 10 iSCSI 2 TB disks attached to it and mounted as folders where the DBs are. After letting Loadgen do the initialization we let it run for three days and the program crashed because of disks errors. Event ID 51 Source Disk<http://www.eventid.net/source.asp?source=Disk> Type Warning<http://www.eventid.net/types.asp#Warning> Description An error was detected on device <device path> during a paging operation. All disks are brand new and shows no errors in the System Manager. So it looks to me more like a config error, for info the system runs 64GB of RAM, we dont use any switches for the kernel (PAE, 3GB,..). The page size for the server is only 18 GB because of space limitations. After googling i found some possible tweaks like disabling write-caching on disks. I can try that upon other tweaks but was hoping some output from folks here.
