            Bug ID: 3097
           Summary: an "unifdef" facility
           Product: Exim
           Version: 4.98
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: medium
         Component: Unfiled
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]

The process of tidying up outdated .ifdeffery in a large config is tedious and
error-prone. An automated way of generating a modified config file from an
existing
one, applying one specified define (or not-define) would be a useful tool.

Retaining comments and whitespace would be needed.
Retaining separation of .included files would be useful, though perhaps
not needed in an initial implementation.
Handling a set of (un)defines in one go might be a useful extension.

The affected code is probably all in readconf.c (apart from the option-handling
in
exim.c if this is not a standalone tool. But it probably should be a
standalone
binary, sharing radconf.c).
