Hi Tony,

There was just a normal log before the error message.
I show you a different example sent to me the same way:
Eudora -> exchange -> exim

The first normal log:

2005-06-08 15:49:58 1Dg0wQ-0004Cw-4H <= [EMAIL PROTECTED] H=exsrv.xxx.u-szeged.hu [160.114.n.n] P=esmtp S=1403 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
srv.xxx.u-szeged.hu

The whole error message:

2005-06-08 15:49:58 SMTP protocol violation: synchronization error (next input s ent too soon: pipelining was not advertised): rejected "--=====================_ 18421046==.ALT" H=exsrv.xxx.u-szeged.hu [160.114.n.n] next input="Content-Ty pe: text/html;\r\n charset="iso-8859-1"\r\nContent-Transfer-Encoding: quote
d-printable\r\n\r\n<html>\r\n<body>\r\n<br>\r\nProba<br><br>\r\n<br>\r\n<x-sigse
p><"

The first part of the message arrives, but the whole message remains in the queue of the exchange server,i.e. it multiplies itself many times.
Maybe some relevant parts from the arrived message belonging to the above
timestamp:

The first short text/plain MIME part arrives, but the second
(text/html - mentioned in the "next input" of the error
message) is missing. So it seems to me that the second
delimiter triggers the synchronization error, not the first
one is sent among the SMTP commands. Or am I wrong?

That looks like a MIME attachment delimiter (i.e. message data). I don't
know why it is being sent when Exim is expecting an SMTP command. Were
there any other lines in the log relating to the Exchange server before
this error message?

The sender uses Eudora (Version 6.1.2.0) to contact the exchange
server, we did not notice similar problems with other mail clients
(outlook etc.).

How odd!

Tony.
