A bit difficult to tell without knowing a bit more about your question - is that one of your own domains which is failing,or someone elses? If its yours, then only you can have told exim how to verify the address, and if you told it something about a hyphen that's broken, then you need to show us the pieces. If it's a remote domain, then all bets are off. How could we know?
