Or look at http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-exim4/exim/tags/?rev=0&sc=0 and pick 
a version, install subversion and svn-build-package, check out 
svn://svn.debian.org/pkg-exim4/exim/tags/<desired version> or even 
svn://svn.debian.org/pkg-exim4/exim/trunk, download the corresponding tarball 
from an Exim mirror and put it in a directory called "tarballs" alongside the 
checked-out Debian Exim packaging working copy, then cd to that working copy 
and run svn-buildpackage -rfakeroot -uc -us.
