Heiko, Grateful to see the 'Caveat' note on your original fs-based 'grey.sh' system, wherein it ate all the inodes on a 2GB mount. JFWIW, it once ate all of the inodes on a 100GB mount as well... :-( By comparison, though I no longer do greylisting, writing the 'hits' into PostgreSQL [1] hasn't raised a sweat, nor would I expect it to do so with MySQL.
