I have also heard that IMB is good and Citibank is difficult, even for Americans.
With respect to credit history, I understand that there is little or no credit reporting system here and that banks are prohibited from providing credit information even if there was a credit agency. In addition, I doubt that Russian banks are ready yet to share information. I suppose you could establish a credit history at a specific bank like IMB once you have set up your accounts. Also, foreigners who are not registered as permanent residents have difficulties that would restrict credit availability because you are here on a visa that has a limited term.
