...or get an Apple MacBook. Mac OX works with 16 pre-installed languages (includes Russian, and can be switched back to English). I bought one, and additionally installed "Parallel desktop" (aka "Bootcamp"), which enables the Macbook to run Mac OX and Windows at the same time. To get an English version of Windows, you need to order either via the net, or check out some local guys / IT shop - they usually can help you out :-)
Obviously, if you buy a MacBook in Russia, it comes with Cyrilllic sub-keys. Hi James, Easy answer - no If you're using Microsoft then there isn't any easy way of changing the language of the menus etc. You can get a copy of XP in China for about $30 so making the languages inter-changeable would flood the market with those copies (perfectly legally). I bought a new laptop here and reinstalled an English copy of Windows. Alternatively you can get a free copy of Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com <http://www.ubuntu.com/> ) and put that on there. I do that with another machine of mine. You can request a free disk through their website and try it out (you just boot off the disk, no need to install) - it's actually pretty good now and works as a good substitute for Windows. One obvious advantage though to buying a Russian laptop is having Cyrillic alternatives on the keys. If you need to learn/write in Russian it's much harder with an English-only keyboard.
