Hi, All of the linguistic debates aside, the notion that only a British instructor is capable of teaching quote-unquote proper English remains as asinine and prejudiced as it was when the discussion started. Any competent English teacher can teach British English. If you want British English, get British textbooks.
With regard English instruction, I am for universal understanding. Anything less is sub-par. If I were to teach either British English or American English to exclusion of the other, I would really be doing my students a disservice, particularly since outside of the U.S., the U.K. and some countries of the Commonwealth, people use a mix of the two.
