Dear Mr Rees,

I never ever reacted to mails on that list but could not stop myself this time
because it covered a topic very close to my heart: giving away women designer
cloths. Are you a philanthropist? You hire a cleaner who is not able to perform
her tasks, are willing to pay her above market rates, give her a loan knowing
that she is unlikely to pay it back (speaking of sub prime mortgages), give
away designer cloths and after she decides to bugger off with the money do not
make any effort to retrieve the loan. Did the cleaner in question have any
other skills that you are not telling us about?

Can I apply for the job? I can clean (scrubbing the dirt in the is my
specialty), can iron and do not take loans (I hardly ever use my credit card).
I can take any hourly rate as long as you pay me bonuses in "loads of almost
unworn women designer clothes". That is in fact what attracted me in this job
offer in the first place. Is it possible to order any specific cloths? I am
thinking of ordering a black Hermes Birkin bag but maybe these is a spare one
in your household? Other colors would do, especially beige or dark brown. I am
also pondering a purchase of a certain pair of Prada boots (to match with a
coat) and an Etro jacket. How much cleaning would be required? Any spares of
these items that your household can part with?

Regards,

I would like to know if you have any luck finding a place to watch the game!
I heard it was on Eurosport and maybe playing at Silvers, but I've only been
here a week!

Well, when she came she was obviously more of a "home helper" than a cleaner
but we gave her a chance.

She wanted 1000 per visit (about 4 to 5 hours per time) although our previous
cleaner was on 750 per visit.

She couldn't iron, couldn't clean and left some things dirtier than before. She
even used Domestos mixed with water to clean the wooden floor even though I
bought special liquid for these floors and showed her how it works.

One thing that made me laugh though was that for the 4 weeks she called me
Sunny and my dog Nick!!!

Anyway, we liked her personally as she wanted to learn so we helped her and
were patient.

Three weeks ago she asked for a loan of 6000 rubles which, from experience, I
know means nothing but good will come......but gave it to her anyway.

She then tells me 3 weeks later that a Russian family are going to pay her more
and that she's leaving.

We gave her bonuses when she did well, loads of womens designer clothes that
were almost new and always treated her well (as one should!).

The only other reason that I can think she would want to leave is that I'm home
a lot and that means she can't sneak out early.

Anyway....she's gone and we need someone reliable/honest who's not going leave
in 3 or 4 months.

Regards,

Nick

wait, this is a troll, right? you can't seriously expect anyone to give you
recommendations after a note like this?

(or am i just too sober to get the sarcasm?)

My bloody cleaner is leaving as she's been offered more money by some Russians.

When she started she was useless but she's improved a lot over the past 4
months. Now she's leaving....but of course after borrowing money first!!!!

If anyone can recommend a loyal and honest cleaner, I would be grateful.

We pay 1000 rubles per visit - twice a week - and about 4-5 hours per time.

Regards,

Nick

Hi John,

What does "trolling" mean?

I'm more than happy to pay the going rate but I have no idea what it is.

I hear of people paying 500 and others paying 3000 for a 4 or 5 hour visit.

Things aren't cheap and I don't usually care too much about cost but hate being
fleeced or paying stupid prices when better deals are available.

I'd rather pay 1,000 or a bit more and give bonuses (money, wine, champagne,
clothes, presents from holidays etc) than pay 2,000 a time.

I'm actually thinking of getting someone in who can cook as well now and just
pay whatever it takes!

Regards,

Nick

Hi John

Nick's a regular here so I don't think he's trolling :) I am a little surprised
though you can get 5hrs cleaning work for 1000r. We're lucky to do that in
Ivanovo and we're 300km away from Moscow prices.

When we first moved here 4yrs ago we got 2 guys helping us moving the office
furniture for 400r. We just did the same job last weekend and they wanted a
min. 3000r. Same with our programmers, the good ones can get $4-5k/month now
in Moscow.

I'm just about to rent a flat for $4k - that's a fraction as good as the London
apartment I could get with the same money. Crazy prices rises here.
