Christine mentions bad neighborhoods. Does anyone know of any bad neighborhoods
in Moscow?

Granted the city as a whole is less safe then cities like Tokyo or Helsinki,
but I am not aware of any specific neighborhoods that are significantly more
dangerous then others such as it is in many US cities. I lived in the
Washington DC area for some time and there are clearly areas that are best to
avoid at night or even in the daytime for that matter.

I think it would be interesting to hear from any other people on the list if
they have heard that there are 'dangerous neighborhoods in Moscow" or if not so
dangerous maybe a bit more dangerous then others?

jobs and am currently trying to decide between them! One is in Moscow and the
other is elsewhere! They both pay about the sameand include the same types of
benefits (free apartment, discount on languagelessons...etc) as they are
actually with the same company! The onlydifference is the location...Moscow or
another city in Europe. I don't know much about Moscow today...(I have a
limited historicalperspective from history class a million years ago)! Can
anyone provide meany insights to help me decide? and possibly give me a
comparison on safetyto some other major cities in the world? I have heard it is
kind of likeNew York or Chicago - there is crime, but if you use the normal
precautions(ie don't visit bad neighborhoods at night alone) you should be ok?
