I have compiled the 2.2.3 kernel (Mandrake 5.3 using 2.2.3 and related update rpm's
from Mandrake) with no errors, However, on booting, it hangs at "Finding module
dependencies". If I comment out that part of the rc.sysinit script, it will boot but,
of course, I don't have any module support.

But I didn't think I needed it. I deliberately compiled the kernel with _no_ modules.
Yet , modules are created with "make modules". Huh? Even though I select "y" instead
of "m" are some things still handled as modules? Or am I selecting something wrong? I
didn't have this problem with the 2.0.34 kernel and I am stumped.
