I installed a tar ball libproplist then installed a tar ball 0.53. They
worked but I did not specify directories properly so several paths were
wrong. U know, wmaker started with all those empty squares. Too many paths
to correct via wmakerconf. Therefore, I decided to use the sure-fire way (at
least I thought so) via rpms. So I downloaded liproplist 8.3 rpm and wmaker
0.50 rpm for redhat. Subequently I installed the lib using kde's rpm
manager. Then I added /usr/local/lib & /usr/local/bin to ld.so.conf & did a
ldconf to link the libs. Finally, I attempted to install 0.50 wmaker rpm.
And was told wmaker installation needed librraster.so.1 and the libs for
wmaker 0.50.

EXASPERATING. Somebody pls tell me what's going on. I need to rectify this
asap. Tks, all.

rpm only knows about libraries installed with rpm (rpms can be written to
check for non-rpm libraries, but few are). So when you're trying to install
a
WM rpm, it wants to see that the rpm libraries needed are also installed.
You
can try to force the installation, but most likely you'll need the library
rpms.
