Hello people,
First, I would like to ask for a "mentor", can anyone volunteer (or
is there a list of volunteers already?) to be my mentor. Please tell me
how long you have been working with Linux.
I am trying to install Linux Mandrake 5.2 for the first time and I
have some problems:
1. When I select to install from the CD-ROM without forcing
supplemental disk, the system will scan (or whatever you call it) the
CD-ROM and exit the program (there will be a black line at the bottom of
the blue screen and whatever you type is useless).
2. I copied the REDHAT directory to a dedicated WIN95 partition and
tried to install using that, but the installation program cannot detect
a redhat installation tree!
3. How should I partition my disk drive?
(e.g.: What size for:
/ root
SWAP
/usr
/usr/src
/usr/local
/home
/bin (I don't know if it should be a partition itself or under root?)
/etc
/tmp
and is there anything I've left out?)
4. Will my computer system (all the component) work with Linux?
