If you're in runlevel 5 (starting X at bootup), edit
/usr/share/config/kdmrc to read SessionTypes=gnome;kde;... instead of
SessionTypes=kde;gnome;... (Yes, there is some GUI way to do this, but I
don't know it out of my head).
If you're in runlevel 3 (using startx to start X), run desktopcfg.
