As it looks your prob (and Andrea's as well) may be solved by the
new boot.img from Chmouel Boudjnah.

I had similar problems related to the hdparm-optimizations by
bero. Installation of M6 worked with RH6-boot.img but I couldn't
create bootdisk or install LILO during installation.
Now with this new boot-1805.img everything works.
