I'm not exactly sure what happened but when i installed i had just about every
error theveryone is talking about.
First i made a partition on my harddrive just for mandrake to install from ( about
800 megs in size).
Second I loaded all the files on the cd rom to the new partition.
Third I downloaded all the upddates and put them in the mandrake rpms directory.
then i deleted all the older versions of the files that i updated.
Forth i did a fresh install from the hard drive with the updated the updayted files
in place.

Now my system is stable (accept for one netscape crash which is normal for
netscape)
some pointers:
    1. if you install from a hard drive don't give the partition a mount point when
you set up the mount points in disk druid or else you will get broken sym link
errors. THIS IS A BIG ONE!
    2. if you are having problems using Kppp try changing the settings. on my modem
i set it to (none) (cr) and also set the modem speeed corectly. you cant set it
for faster than it should be anymore. So set to 38400, 56000, or whatever your
modem speed is.
