Hi!

My eleven year old son and I have no knowledge at all of how to set up a
network using my computer as a server and his as a client. We currently have
dial up Internet access but that is as far as networking goes.

We have read the Ethernet HOWTO, Linux NET-3-HOWTO, Linux Networking and
various other papers, man pages etc.

My question to the experts: Where do I obtain a HOWTO that says, you have two
machines each with one 3COM 509 Ethernet card, here is how you connect them
together.

This seems like a simple request, does it not? Unfortunately, Linux
documentation is never simple. It is either outdated, non-existent or written
by people who are so sophistacted, they no longer are able to
effectively communicate with anyone who does not possess their level of
knowledge. I hope I am not being overly critical but this above all seems to me
to be the Achillie's heel of Linux.

If you can point us to information that will help, it would be appreciated.

Rusty
