See the PPP-HOWTO, it applies to all kind of serial links, not
necessarily
through a modem. And with kppp's help it should be real easy to setup.
When the link works use mirror software to do the synch between the
machines.
Note: a serial link will work but might be a little slow (limited to
115200
bits/sec). Using the parallel port (PLIP connexion) might be a lot
faster,
especially with todays PC's parallel ports ...
