Go over to www.tucows.com and go to the Server Tools / X-Windows
servers. There you will find 3 servers. I haven't tried the second one
as it doesn't seem to exist for NT. The first and the third allow me to
use KDE, but I don't see the task bar at the bottom of the screen. The
third looks more professional, but the time out after half an hour is
more than annoying. MI/X is free and does the job.
Start up the server on your Win98 machine.
Now telnet into your Linux box. Log in as an unprivileged user. I can't
login as root straight away, guess that's implemented for security
reasons. Anyway, I don't think you need to be root to redirect X, which
is what we want to do next. It can be achieved with the following
command:

export DISPLAY=1.2.3.4:0.0

you should substitute 1.2.3.4 with the IP address of your Win98 box

now type

xterm &

and your launched. You can close down the TELNET session if you like.

Hope this helps,

Jo
