Well, it appears that since I did the updates, a new security update was added a
linux-mandrake.com, namely am-utils because of a potential buffer-overflow
exploit. So, I guess someone tried (or succeeded) in hacking me. Joy, I get to
re-install. I'm really looking forward to that after I just got all my config
done from the original install a week or so ago. Sheesh. I hate hackers.
Until I can do that, however, I'd like to upgrade the am-utils package.
However, when I try, I get a failed dependency:
# rpm -U am-utils-6.0.1s11-1mdk_586.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
/usr/bin/perl5 is needed by am-utils-6.0.1s11-1mdk
This installation is only a week or two old -- why would it be asking for
something that isn't on my system? Any ideas where I can find this package? I
have perl-5.00503-3mdk already on the system (the perl that came with Mandrake
6.0). What is it asking for if not that? I've tried creating a link and/or a
directory in that spot, but that doesn't seem to work.
