I was out of town for two days, so I finally gathered your
phone messages and your email.

Did you get PINE to work? If you are using it with a POP
server you need to manually tweak the .pinerc file. It is
easy, but no directions are provided.

Let me know if you still need help on this, and I will
email you the info. Its only one line as I recall.
Send me your pop3 server name and username
(like mail.nook.net, rfg) and I will send you the proper
info.

It will always ask for the password, though. PINE does not
remember passwords. This is no hardship, although I have to
say that I am not a lover of PINE.

E-mail.... it is touch to find good email programs out there,
and most of what I have seen misses the mark. The absolute
best has been Netscape 3.04. Alas, the browser part of
Netscape is not very good. I am still working on finding
a good emailer, and to date I think there are two possibles.
One of them is arrow, but I am still trying to find other
possibles.

One of my problems is t hat I am running RedHat 5.2 in all
these machines, and everything I try is compiled for the
new glibc 2.1, so it does not run. I am not into tweaking
and rebuilding RPMs, so I will wait until I go to Mandrake 6.1,
which is imminent. And try that. I understand that KDE Mail
or Kmail is not bad. It is kludgy in Mandrake 5.3, but everyone
says its much improved. We shall see.
