Dear Ronald:
As I reported to the list about two weeks ago, thanks to Ramon Gandia, I
found out that I didn't need to use either fetchmail or sendmail to
configure PINE. You need only to confiugre the .pinerc file that is
created the first time you launch PINE. Once again, here is my copy of
.pinerc:
########################### Essential Parameters
###########################
# Over-rides your full name from Unix password file. Required for
PC-Pine.
personal-name=Benjamin Sher
# Sets domain part of From: and local addresses in outgoing mail.
user-domain=bellsouth.net
# List of SMTP servers for sending mail. If blank: Unix Pine uses
sendmail.
smtp-server=mail.msy.bellsouth.net
# NNTP server for posting news. Also sets news-collections for news
reading.
nntp-server=news.msy.bellsouth.net
# Path of (local or remote) INBOX, e.g. ={mail.somewhere.edu}inbox
# Normal Unix default is the local INBOX (usually
/usr/spool/mail/$USER).
inbox-path={msy.bellsouth.net/pop3}INBOX
###################### Collections, Folders, and Files
#####################
I have not yet figured out how to configure the printer for Pine, which
must be done from within Pine (Setup, Configure Printer), but you can
always export any message to your home directory and then print it from
there.
