Hello,
I just installed Mandrake 6.1 on a Dell Dimension PIII-600 which had Win98
pre-installed and an Adaptec 2940U2 scsi card. There were a couple of
problems.

1. The system would not boot off the cdrom (set the BIOS to boot off
the cdrom, but that did not matter). I had to make a floppy, and
install that way. I wish they would stop using Intel motherboards,
and switch to ASUS or Abit!

1. FIPS did free up the requested disk space, but exited with an error
(something about memory allocation error) which made Win98 unbootable.
I suppose I can reinstall Win98 on the remaining file system, but this
sort of thing shouldn't happen. Anyone else seen this problem? The
main reason for Win98 on this machine is the hardware warrantee
supplied by Dell.

2. The installation did not recognize the 3COM905C ethernet card.
After rebooting, modprobe did find the driver, so it can be used, but,
again, this should not happen.

Anyone have the installation program find the 3COM905C?

TIA,
 -sen
