Basically,
1. make sure the network is running.
2. just load the 3c90x.o module with
modprobe 3c90x.o
3. use ifconfig to set up the ethernet and you're off and running.
You can then get all of these things running in /etc/rc.d/rc.local
so they work when you boot up.
