It should auto-sense and connect at the highest speed
possible. OTOH, you might try using netcfg. To do this,
you'll have to open a console window, type "xhost
+127.0.0.1" then "su" to root (all this not including
quotes.) Once you're root in the console window, type
"netcfg" (minus quotes again!) and select "eth0" interface.
For security, once you're done, exit the "root" level and
then type "xhost -127.0.0.1" to remove the potential
security hole.
