Don't know what the problem is /was but my netscape was locking up also.
This was the new version in Mandrake/6.1/updates.
I went to http://www.replat.net and downloaded the 128 bit version, and
made a simple syslink to /usr/lib/netscape/netscape in /usr/bin. Haven't
had a lockup since install.
I do have java enabled in the preferences.
