I've got a Compaq Armada 1750 on which I've loaded Mandrake 6.1
(after a single day on RH 6.1 - ugh).
I've loaded and reloaded this laptop a number of times in the past
(it's something of a development tool) but this time it seems that something
has gone goofy with X. If I leave the laptop sit for 10 minutes the screen
blanks - a function of the laptop BIOS, not the Linux OS. In the past all I
had to do was touch a key or move the mouse and all came back just fine -
but now when I do so I have lost my mouse pointer. I can still right click
and get a feel for the approximate position, but nothing I've been able to
do in this state has brought the pointer back.
I run a GL screensaver - but I "get back" from that just fine.
Any thoughts? I re-run mouseconfig and Xconfigurator. The system
supports both the built-in touchpad and an external PS/2 device
simultaneously. I've got the mouse set for 2 button generic PS/2 w/3 button
emulation.
