Gigabyte GA-5AX (ALi Aladdin V AGPset)
ATI Rage IIC 8Mb AGP
IBM/Intel EtherPro/100
SB 64 AWE (ISA)
64 or 128 MB RAM

Received 4 systems in August. All were brutalized by UPS and 2 had to
be returned.

One was installed with L-M 6.0 It was properly updated and works
One was installed with L-M 6.1 It goes into paralytic shock when the
network card is accessed, shutting down the video into powersaver mode.

The crash is real. Can't get the video to respond, can't telnet in....
Nothing

In 6.0 this same machine dies when the network is accessed, but does not
go into screensaver mode--If ping is run from it, it is FOUR tries and
freeze.

Nothing useful in any logs

Changed memory--no effect
Changed Motherboards to an Intel LX chipset--no effect

Swapped in a different network card Labeled IBM 10/100 EtherJet PCI
Adaptor with Wake On LAN Assm P/N 30L5760
THIS IS THE SAME Card I started with, just from a different
machine--SAME pattern of crashes with nothing in the logs.

Switched to Caldera 2.3 Failed Install twice. Finally installed then
crashed on AMD, again, nothing useful in the logs, but it did fail video
twice before freezing.

Tried RedHat, which is what these came installed with--worked great
until I added the network module, then down we go.

Swapped in a cheap ($5) NE2000 PCI clone. Ping times to the server
dropped from 22 ms to 0.1 ms and no crash.

This IBM 10/100 Ethernet card has an Intel chipset on it with what looks
like a house number. In Win98 it shows up as an Intel EtherPro and an
IBM 10/100 BOTH. It sort-of works there, until you try networking.

I have one of six that works properly under linux. Perhaps a different
lot?

Guess the point here is AVOID THIS CARD!!!!
