I'm not positive this is going to work, but I believe I've fixed this error by adding a symbolic link for libstdc++.so, ie. ln -s libstdc++.so libstdc++.so.2.9.0, in the /usr/lib directory. If I remember correctly. Basically, Mandrake doesn't create a link for libstdc++.so to the latest libstdc++. Hope that helps. -- To boldly code where no man has debugged before...
