The CD Mandrake 6.0 has got a buggy kernel, due to modifications the
mandrake team did to it.

If you want a working MDK6.0, you've got to upgrade your kernel with the
upgrade files (available on the Mandrake web/ftp site), or get a unmodified
(ie a "normal") Linux kernel from the available places on the web and
compile it and install it yourself.

After that, you'll be able to kill any process you want, as usual! :-)
