[expert] Sleep in Mandrake 6.1

Hello, I've got Mandrake 6.1 up and almost everything I need running (6.1 being a lot 
nicer than 6.0)

One question:  Leaving the PC on?  I know this is OK, but my "Sleep" and "Wake" keys 
don't seem to work?  Is there any considerations as far as set-up to leave the PC 
always running?  Should I leave it in "lock Screen" mode, or log out and leave it at 
the text login prompt??  Any help would be appreciated (Sorry if this is a newbie 
question).
