I tracked down a Tripwire rpm which installed easily
and worked right from the start on my L-M 6.1 system.
I had tried several and this was the first one which worked
without hassels. I can direct individuals to it if they
have been having trouble getting Tripwire working or wanted
to try it out.
However, my next question applies to L-M 7.0 and was addressed
somewhat in another group but I thought I would ask here as well.
Anyone know if the msec and security programs in 7.0
make programs like Tripwire unecessary theoretically?
Though I know some will still prefer to set up their own
security protocols from "scratch". For instance in the 6.1
system I have a combo. of ipchains/Tripwire/PortSentry etc.
which seems perhaps to be what the 'msec' security integration
protocol is trying to do? Also the ever present
'user permission' problems seem to be getting addressed here
in a GUI way for the more command-line "challenged" like myself.
Just a few random thought samples re:security
