Hey everyone.

Anyone have any idea how much work might be involved to patch an ICQ client
under Linux to act as an Email gateway?

Let me describe my application:

I want to run this ICQ version on a server so that it shows up on friends'
contact lists to say my server is online, but if they send a message to the
account, this "client" (or daemon, whatever it may be classified as) would
in turn forward the message to an Email account.

Yup, you guessed it ... the Email account gets sent to my alphanumeric pager.

I'm looking at this as a technical support option for some web hosting I'm
going to be getting into, and wondered what might be involved.

I don't want to have to run X to have this intercepting messages on port
4000/whatever. I want it to run similar to a daemon process that just opens
port 4000 and redirects a *VALID* ICQ message (not a URL, not a file
transfer attempt, or anything else, just the text message feature) to an
Email account which sends the text message to my pager.

Thoughts? Comments?
