The 1277 is a Cyrix MediaGX

The modelines don't work for it

You need to make SURE

Horizontal and Vertical  numbers in the modelines ARE between
16 and 24 apart

low to high that means like 800 815  through 800 823 for
horizontal, for example

Sorry I took so long to respond, but....  Most of my bandwidth
is DLing AIR and I had to get the furshlugginer .pdf file from
compaq support to make sure of the bad news.

Anyway, someone who knows vi and can delete all but the
appropriate modelines and modify those and make sure the SVGA
server for XFree86 3.3 or later is selected, should have few
problems with this one.  I have configured more than I care to
admit and the key is the distance between the numbers in the
modelines.  The timing loops are particularly critical with
this chipset.
