Then it is NOT the discontinued Presario 1200 series.

OK the Trident Chipset there probably needs

   Option "noaccel"

in the Devices section of /etc/X11/XF86Config which mentions
the Trident device

Since XFree86 3.3.5, the Trident drivers in XF86SVGA have been
accelerated in 8, 16, and 32 bit color depth by default, and
cheap implementations of the 3DI 975 and 985 (I've dealt with
3 of each and one other list member also had a 985 that I
worked with privately) and of the Blade3D 9880 needed the
"noaccel" option to work properly. I have seen
implementations of the Cyberblade in the VIA MVP4 which work
out of the box with acceleration, but this may be dependent on
support circuitry.

Anyway, try it. If it works, please report it to the list so
we can convince our benefactors to default the Trident
chipsets to "noaccel" and allow the people who tune things to
improve performance instead of the people who buy cheap
hardware to get NO performance.
