Ben....I had exactly the same experience and after a short and
fruitless struggle I went back to 6.1 on that machine (it's the
only one that has a modem and is my masquerading machine).
There are two threads so far this year on this problem. The
best bet I saw, but haven't tried yet, as it would require me to
reinstall 7.0 on that machine again just to see if it works, was
to uninstall ppp-2.3.10-5mdk and install ppp 2.3.8-1mdk from the
6.1 cd. Let me know what works for you.
