Dear friends:
Using Mandrake 7.0, U. S. Robotics EXT 56k modem on com2 (TTS1).
My Robotics will dial into my Bellsouth provider, then CONNECT, but
suddenly conk out with a message "pppd has died out" and then restart
initializing and dialing again.
Nothing I try seems to work. I still get the exact same response. It
connects, I get the following message on the log:
ATZ
OK
ATM0L0
OK
ATDT525-3398
CONNECT 50666/ARQ/V90/LAPM/V42BIS
Then it disconnects and I get a message saying that pppd has died.
[root@adsl-77-232-204 /root]# cat /etc/ppp/pap-secrets
# Secrets for authentication using PAP
# client secret
sher07 * password
[root@adsl-77-232-204 /root]#
I have tried to list my ISP number but that didn't work either.
Any help would be appreciated.
