Let me ask this: I had my dual boot machine as a 233MMX Pentium. Recently I moved everything into a new PII 450. The system is still dual boot, 98 and MDK 6.1. Here is the problem: I have a win desktop icon to reboot me to linux via bat file. I also have my dos config setup to ask me for which os i which to boot (if I choose shutdown or power down). I use loadlin. Now from pressing my icon, linux runs the bat, and linux sees itself as a 233MMX, if i do a Start-restart, then command prompt or choose linux from dos menu (which runs the same bat file), linux sees itself as a 450 PII.
