Hmmm, there is a BIOS upgrade available at http://www.soyousa.com/586bios.html#5EH which "allows Windows98 to detect IR devices" There are also some utilities for the MVP3 Chipset at http://www.via.com.tw/drivers.html one of which is enticingly titled "IRQ routing driver" (for windows of course, but ....)
