I downloaded the iso for mandrake 7.02 and
burned to a CD. I then booted this CD on my
P133 Mhz system. I did NOT get any cool
graphical installer. I got the generic installer.
And when I tried to install It hangs on
initializing the CDROM step. Yes, I have an
ATAPI Cdrom. I've installed every other different
distribution of Linux on this computer before.
And I've installed the distribution on another
Computer. But I don't understand why it hangs
on initializing this CDROM and how I can get
around it whithout installing another CDROM.
I had these same issues with 7.0 and they were
never resolved other than being told that
Oxygen/Air had some bugs in it. I figured they
would have fixed this bug since I can load 6.0
on it with no problem. Seems Mandrake may need
to re-analyze their new installer and find out
why it does NOT initialize ALL atapi cdrom before
they rush this product out to market. Sorry if
this email seems harsh, but it is quite an
annoying problem. Does anyone have any ideas?
By the way the, cdrom is a TEAC cdrom if that helps.
Thanx,
SA
