Title: Mandrake 7 on Dell Latitude CPia

Hi,

I have install Mandrake 7 on a Dell laptop.  It installed okay, however it seems to have problems when the floppy drive is not attached.  It seems to think that the device is there when it boots.  This causes problems with some applications (eg. gtop and rpm).  It will report device timeout errors while trying to run these programs also it some times locks up while shutting down (also report the same timeout errors).  Is there an option I can set that lets the system know that no floppy is installed (other than recompling the kernel)?

Thanks,

Michael Barker
