[expert] x hangs at start

Hi all, 

Question. I'm having a strange proble with x. I can
start it all right when I log in as root. when I log
in using a user account, I get the error: 
hostname not found 
I hit ctrl - c twice, and then it boots ok. 

Anybody else heard of this?
