Hi,

first, thanks for your answer. Now I see, that I've made a thinking error, as I
wrote this mail.
For shure, mt-commands controls the streamer. But what I should know, is, how
can I overcome to control the streamer as its own ?

For example : in my /dev I doesn't find a "streamer" or anything else.
Seems, as I have to do an installation. But how I have to do this ?

Arkeia I have tried, but here starts my problems (and there was a lot of them)
which device, which commands to use and much more of these grey hounds.
I am missing an installation tool for an SCSI-streamer like this was on my old
Sun-sparc or SGI-Indigo.
There I had a tool, which saw the Streamer at startup-time and was asking me,
which name the streamer should have. Nothing else. From there on I had a
streamer available.

Was reading now a lot of docs, but haven't found some useful things.
Another thing, due to my impression is, Arkeia may be very useful, but
it is nothing for a newbie on arkeia. It is too complicated.

So, all what I need, is, how I have to make a useful setup, after that I can
use my streamer with arkeia, or BRU or taper or anything else.
for example : how can I find out, which driver is the correct driver for
my streamer ?
And how looks the steps, I have to work around ?

Have tried from the command line : mt rewind, but nothing happens.

Think, it would be a very useful and good idea for linux-gurus, if anyone could
make a program for setting up such SCSI-Streamers or DAT-recorders or something
else.

Hope, you can see now my "true" problems - and can help me.

Thanks in advance
bye
Hans Schneidhofer
