What is presently in Cooker is the 7.1 beta. You can verify this by
looking at the contents of the VERSION file.
I maintain two 2 GB Linux partitions on each of my machines. One is
production (stable) and the other is experimental. Currently 7.0-2
and 7.1 beta respectively. To conserve disk space, both share the
same swap partition, which can be located between them or on another
physical drive. Production /home is on another partition which can
be shared to ease testing and the transition of the production Linux
between partitions.
