[expert] FTP Login Problem

I am trying to get FTP working between a WIN98 PC and a Linux server. I
had it working before on an older red hat distribution. I remember that
i had to make some changes to a configuration file. Currently when i try

to FTP to the server it says connected--then after about 2 minutes it
times out. I never get a user name prompt. I have looked everywhere i
can to try and get a solution to this problem without any luck.

Can somebody help???
