Here's a strange situation that hopefully somebody can assist me in trying
to fix... Recently I've moved my /usr directories to /home/usr to free up
space. Then I created a symbolic link to point /usr to /home/usr. However
now I cannot seem to load the xserver (startx), it states:
_FontTransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno = 111
failed to set default font path 'unix/:-1'
Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'
Unfortunatey, if I attempt to re-configure my XWindows, it fails to
recognize my monitor or video card. It's not that it doesn't recognize
them, but it cannot access the monitor through my switchbox that I'm using
for my two machines. Strangely enough, during installation it had no
problem with configuring it properly, but I'd hate to follow that route
considering how long it's taken me to get this far, and I'm not sure I can
duplicate everything I've done to get this system working.
SO I guess my answer is is why doesn't the symbolic link work for this?
Where do I set this default font path? And is there any reason why the
configuration utilities fail to access my monitor and video card when the
installation program had no difficulty?
THANX!!
