[expert] I need to rename a bunch of files

I found mmv but can't seem to get the proper command line

the files that I have are like this
picture-thumb.jpg  and the new album software requires them to be
picture.thumb.jpg


what kind of command line am I looking for?

of if someone has a quick script that they use for this type of thing
with instructions I would gladly use that.
