actually, I was told you had to do it in hex... I may be wrong though.

But wouldn't this have the same effect as putting the decimal number in? I
tried this, and LILO reported I had used an unavailable option, thus
requiring I go through the ask portion and type in 'scan' again...
The original modes are 0-6 and after scan there are 7,8,9,a,b are added...
it's 9 I'm looking to use permanently. When I specified 9 in the vga line
in LILO and the next bootup it said it was an unavailable option.
